Just Can’t Stop Me | Jun 24th 2009

548034255_09-0542-215 copy Sometimes you gotta’ take this kinda’ attitude with you.  One might say it borders on cocky…it probably does, but if you can back it up, then it basically rests in the arms of reality and the folks trying to stop me or perhaps you will have to deal with that reality and the attitude.  For once I’m glad I am me!

Ya’ see you spend most of your life running great times, setting records in high school, running division 1 NCAA (I gave it a shot), collecting enough hardware (trophies, plaques, medals) to fill a storage bin in Linden, NJ.  This is the storage been my not-soon-enough-to-be-ex-wife brought into the relationship.  Thanks partner!  I brought the apartment in lower Manhattan into the relationship…yeah the one with the terrace that she never even steps out on.  Yep, the same one she removed my hardware from and delivered to her storage bin in Linden…charming place (Linden) if you ever want to commit a crime.

So now she says I can pay for the storage bin as it’s all my stuff in there…and she wants the apartment!!  Ummmm, how about we go back to what we both brought into this??  Take your bin back and I’ll be happy to hang out on the terrace solo….or with my hardware.

Anyway, so you can tell I’m not in the best of moods.  Lots of stress is mounting and I just have to deal with it…you can only run so many miles in a day.  I ran 8 miles this morning so effortlessly that I just wanted to keep running as I knew I was on the best high I could ever expect to achieve from within.  Running totally settles me.  There isn’t anything I can’t accomplish after running.  There isn’t anyone I can’t beat (does not apply to Kenyans) and I am not intimidated by runners from other clubs who seem to revel in times they ran 20+ years ago!  I am also not intimidated by opposing attorneys!

So this was coming off of Tuesday 200m repeats at 6th street.  If you have not figured out that 6th street is the 6th street track, then here is you clue…it’s the 6TH STREET TRACK!  I wound up doing  18×200m.  Yep, I upped it this week, or rather “the people’s coach” upped it.  I am not going to mention the times or the rest as I am not here to coach you.  I can suggest you talk to Jerry/Todd, as they can take you to the next level.  Let’s just say, I nailed each repeat within the parameters specified with the exact amount of a rest…and it was comfortable.  I could have run more!

With the NYC Half Marathon on the horizon, it’s time to step it up and get down to business….and just when I was struggling with the weight of the world yesterday this guy who has been like a brother to me said some really nice things and although I won’t write about it, it was like becoming a “made man” within the UA familia’.  I am very appreciative and respect omerta’.

Heading into the weekend, I will run The Achilles Hope and Possibility 5 miler this Sunday as part of a 15 mile run.  I will be dressed in UA gear, but I will probably be not racing as opposed to running the 5 to get in the 15.

If you’re in the park, give a shout, I’ll see you then….
